Cigna just announced they’re exiting the individual and family health insurance market starting in 2027. Nothing is changing right now. If you have a Cigna plan today, your coverage stays exactly the same through the end of 2026.
Starting in 2027, Cigna won’t offer medical plans for individuals and families anymore. When open enrollment rolls around later in 2026, you’ll choose a new insurance company for 2027. Cigna is not leaving everything. They’re still keeping their dental plans, so if you have dental through them, that part may stay put.
The individual market has been tough for a lot of insurance companies. Cigna decided it’s not a space they want to stay in long term. You’ll likely see more focus on other carriers like Anthem, Select Health, Kaiser, or UnitedHealthcare in Colorado. For now, there’s nothing you need to do. Just keep using your plan like normal. As we get closer to the end of 2026, we’ll walk through your options and make sure you land in something that fits just as well, or better.
