You can see why Pagosa Springs (which is the only incorporated municipality in Archuleta County) is known for having the most expensive premiums in the country. Anthem BCBS is the only insurance company available for sale in the individual health insurance market here, apparently with only 4 total unique providers + facilities in Archuleta County based on the SERFF data. What we don’t see here is that there may be many providers travelling in from other areas, like Denver. So there are still more providers than we see here, but those providers will need to charge more to make the travel worth their time.
